The league will run from Sunday 25th October 2009 until Sunday 21st March 2010. There will be no games on 20th December 2009 and 28th February 2010 to allow other competitions to be played. This gives a maximum of 20 weeks. The competition is open to all players (gents, ladies and juniors) who are eligible to play the course on Sunday mornings. New entrants to this competition are welcome. All matches will be played over nine holes, alternating whenever possible between the front nine and the back nine. The 'A' Team
Glyn Abbey Seniors 'A' Team represented the Club in the finals day play off matches of the South Wales Seniors Classic at The Grove GC. We beat Milford Haven to take third place overall in this season's events, having narrowly lost our semi-final to Clyne at Carmarthen a few weeks ago. The event is held each year to raise funds for the Wales Air Ambulance and at the gala dinner last evening the chairman of the Classic presented cheques to the Air Ambulance rep in excess of £7000 - a fantastic result for a worthy cause! In his address at the dinner, the Chairman gave a vote of thanks to the proprietors and committees of all the participating clubs for their cooperation in holding the matches throughout the season. There were 64 teams entered for the Classic this year from clubs throughout South Wales and I am delighted that we finished third and have represented Glyn Abbey so well. If you would like to know more about this event it's all on www.southwalesseniorsclassic.co.uk Rabbits Success
Glyn Abbey Rabbits ended their successful season in style, last Saturday, with a visit to Cwmrhydneuadd. With promotion to Pool A of the Three Counties Rabbits league already secured for next year, a win or halve match would ensure that we would be Pool B champions and have custody of the Pool B trophy for the next 12 months. A loss would leave a slim opportunity for Ashburnham to win at Priskilly, catch us, and force a play off for the title. Any positive result at fortress Cwm. by G.A. would put us beyond reach.
